Ready to print

Start with a ready-made worksheet

Plot each coordinate in order and connect consecutive points within that sequence. Lift your pencil between sequences. Use the completed drawing to identify the shape or picture.

Download the practice pages alone, or include a separate answer key or teacher model. Longer activities may use more than one page.

Keep the graph and the questions together

The student edition includes the graph and its questions or coordinate sequences. The answer edition adds completed work, including the points or paths the learner must draw.

The same settings and seed reproduce the same task. Use New problems to make another set, then check the preview before downloading.

Learning objective

What this activity builds

Follow an ordered coordinate sequence precisely, including separate paths and half-unit positions in more detailed puzzles.

Worked example

What does (−2, −1), (2, −1), (0, 3), (−2, −1) draw?

A triangle with a horizontal base.

The last coordinate returns to the first point and closes the figure. Without that final segment, one side would be missing. A new sequence begins separately and must not be joined to this triangle.

Teaching notes

Make the practice count

  • Begin with a short single sequence before introducing several paths.
  • Cross off each coordinate after plotting it to avoid skipping a vertex.
  • For half coordinates, find the two surrounding whole-number lines and place the point halfway.
  • Compare a suspected mistake with the coordinate list before looking at the key.
