5 cards on 2 pages in the default deck. The image shows its first page. Adding the reference set produces 4 PDF pages in total.

Five front-image cards cover 1, 5, 10, 25 and 50 cents. No reverse-image or dollar-coin set is included.

The ready-made image shows page 1; each PDF contains the full deck. Cards with references adds a separate complete set with answers or annotations. These are not mirrored duplex backs and make no front/back alignment promise. Print at actual size and cut along the optional guides.

What changes the deck?

Fixed decks keep every card when density changes. Ordered fixed decks ignore the seed; choose Shuffled to use the seed for a different order. Time, number and money-amount decks generate a count from pages × density and can contain repeats.

Learning objective

What this activity builds

Identify a coin by its design and denomination rather than its size.

Worked example

Does a smaller coin always have a smaller value?

No. A dime is worth 10 cents, more than a 5-cent nickel.

Coin size is not a value scale. Use the denomination and recognizable design to identify the coin.

Teaching notes

Make the practice count

  • The set contains a penny, nickel, dime, quarter and half-dollar. There is no dollar coin in this deck.
  • These are selected front designs, not every current or historical design. Pair them with supervised real-coin observation when useful.
  • The labeled reference set is separate from the prompt cards; it is not a set of aligned card backs.
