Ready to print

Start with a ready-made worksheet

Find each requested measure using the marked trapezoid properties. In algebra mode, solve for x and report the measure.

Download the practice pages alone, or include a separate answer key or teacher model. Longer activities may use more than one page.

Check the stated trapezoid facts

Same-leg angles are supplementary and the midsegment is the average of the bases.

Learning objective

What this activity builds

Use the appropriate trapezoid assumptions to find missing lengths and angles.

Worked example

A trapezoid has a midsegment of 22 units and one base of 32 units. Find its other base.

12 units.

The midsegment is the average of the bases: 2 × 22 - 32 = 12 units.

Teaching notes

Make the practice count

  • The two angles along one leg are supplementary because the bases are parallel.
  • Equal diagonals require an isosceles trapezoid; look for equal-leg marks.
  • The midsegment joins the leg midpoints and equals the average of the bases.

Eight diagrams include two questions each for same-leg angles, explicitly isosceles diagonals, midsegments and missing bases. Algebra mode asks for both x and the indicated measure.
