First write the original clock time. For each of the three offset questions, return to that original time and calculate the requested time before or after it. These are independent calculations on a twelve-hour clock; the face does not specify AM or PM.
Download the practice pages alone, or include a separate answer key or teacher model. Longer activities may use more than one page.
Customize this worksheetLearning objective
Move forward or backward by a stated duration while keeping the original clock as the starting point for every calculation.
Worked example
30 minutes after is 11:10; 20 minutes before is 10:20.
For the first answer, move 20 minutes to 11:00 and another 10 to 11:10. For the second answer, start again at 10:40 and move back 20 minutes to 10:20. Subtracting from the first answer would change the starting point and solve a different problem.
