Learning objective
Explain how placing larger digits in higher-value positions changes a whole number.
Worked example
Largest: 5,500. Smallest: 5,005.
Descending order gives the largest number. For the smallest, a 5 must come first because zero cannot lead; then place both zeros before the final 5.
