Learning objective

What this activity builds

Notice that values in the same column differ by ten and share a ones-digit pattern.

Worked example

What connects 7, 17, 27 and 37 in the same column?

Each is 10 more than the number above it.

All four values have a ones digit of 7. The column color helps trace the positions; the numeric pattern explains the relationship.

Teaching notes

Make the practice count

  • Ask learners to predict the next number down before counting.
  • Choose 0–99 when you want the first column to show multiples of ten. On 1–100, those values appear in the last column.
  • The colors support navigation; black numbers and borders remain readable when printed in grayscale. A complete chart and its optional model are references.
