Ready to print

Start with a ready-made worksheet

Find the two missing angles. Corresponding angles have equal measures when the marked lines are parallel.

Match the same corner

Corresponding angles occupy the same relative position at the two intersections, so their measures are equal when the lines are parallel.

Learning objective

What this activity builds

Recognize corresponding positions and transfer an angle measure across parallel lines.

Worked example

Angles 2 and 3 occupy the same relative position where a transversal crosses parallel lines. Angle 3 is 72.25 degrees. Find angle 2.

72.25 degrees.

Corresponding angles on parallel lines are equal, so angle 2 = angle 3 = 72.25 degrees.

Teaching notes

Make the practice count

  • Find the same corner at each intersection.
  • Use the parallel arrow marks before assuming the angles are equal.
  • Keep the selected number of decimal places in the answer.

Six parallel-line diagrams each give one angle from both corresponding equality pairs and ask for their direct partners. Both transversal slopes appear.
