Learning objective
Compare values across fraction and decimal notation without turning a rounded approximation into an equality.
Worked example
2/3 < 0.667.
The displayed decimal is exactly 667/1000. Compare cross-products: 2 × 1000 = 2000 and 667 × 3 = 2001. Since 2000 is smaller, 2/3 is slightly less than 0.667; rounding 2/3 to three places would hide that difference.
