Decide between multiplication and division in ten equal-group, sharing and rate stories. Each set includes five of each operation, with wording and extra-data options.
Ask learners to identify what is known and what the question asks. A drawing, timeline or equation can make the relationship visible before they calculate. Check the answer against the original story and keep its unit.
The ready-made English downloads include practice alone or a separate answer key. The generator keeps the same questions in the preview and PDF, and a saved link reproduces the selected set.
Learning objective
What this activity builds
Use the known and unknown quantities in an equal-group relationship to choose an operation.
Worked example
Six trays hold 8 rolls each. How many rolls are there? If 48 rolls go equally onto 6 trays, how many are on each tray?
6 × 8 = 48 rolls; 48 ÷ 6 = 8 rolls per tray.
The underlying relationship stays the same. The question changes which quantity is unknown.
