Customize this worksheetLearning objective
Use operand order to decide which quantity is divided and which quantity supplies the reciprocal.
Worked example
3/5 ÷ 4 = 3/20, while 4 ÷ 3/5 = 20/3 = 6 2/3.
The first expression shares three-fifths among four equal groups, so it multiplies by 1/4. The second asks how many three-fifths-sized groups fit into four, so it multiplies by 5/3. Reversing the operands changes the question.
