Ready to print

Start with a ready-made worksheet

Identify the parity pattern before rewriting the integrand. Show the identity and keep definite values exact.

Download the practice pages alone, or include a separate answer key or teacher model. Longer activities may use more than one page.

The method is part of the answer

Each sheet asks students to expose the identity, substitution, decomposition, or limiting process that makes the integral valid. Coefficients and scales vary by seed while the selected families stay balanced.

Learning objective

What this activity builds

Select a valid identity or substitution from the power pattern and evaluate bounded trigonometric products exactly.

Worked example

How do you start integral sin^3(x)cos^2(x) dx?

Save sin(x) dx and replace sin^2(x) by 1-cos^2(x).

The remaining expression becomes a polynomial after u = cos(x).

Teaching notes

Make the practice count

  • Have students circle the saved differential factor.
  • Use power reduction only after checking parity.
  • Differentiate antiderivatives to verify them.
